My garden plot is covered in snow and chopped up leaves from fall. I love the stillness of winter. Knowing the inevitable spring gardening is literally months away.
I wonder why we start shopping and planning for the one day of Christmas two months prior to the actual holiday. I mean really the Halloween pumpkins are still on the shelves a mere aisle away from the Santa statues.
Yet most people do not plan for the summer garden until the local mega stores start shoving plants in droves out onto their shelves. The plan for this January as far as my world is concerned ... make some delicious soups while choosing the vegetables for this years bounty. Ahhh the garden of 2010 is taking shape already.
